If so, this two-part workshop is perfectly timed to boost their confidence (and yours!)
Part 1: Saturday 10 December - 8.30am to 11.30am
Introductory session (BYO bike)
- practical bike-handling skills
- road and path rules relating to bike riding
- communicating by signalling, scanning, using eye contact
- defensive riding techniques including: road positioning, navigating intersections and roundabouts, avoiding obstacles like tram tracks and car doors
Part 2: Sunday 11 December - 8.30am to 11.30am
Heading out onto the road (BYO Bike)
- trial traffic skills in traffic-free environment
- group on-road ride
- safe journey planning
Note that it is compulsory to attend Part 1 before attending Part 2.
These sessions are run by the professionals at Bike it Better organised by Darebin City Council and co-funded by the Victorian Department of Transport.

Is this program suitable for students who don't have basic bike riding skills?

Is this program open to students entering Year 7 at other Darebin High Schools?
We're running this program at four other Darebin High Schools this year.

What should I bring?
- Bicycle in good riding condition with working brakes, a bell, and pumped-up tyres
- A bicycle helmet
- Comfortable closed-toe footwear
- Sun/weather protection
- A bottle of water
- Snacks
Do I have to bring my printed ticket?
No, you do not need to bring your ticket on the day.
What is the refund policy?
We offer refunds up to 7 days before the workshop. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds after this time unless the course is cancelled. If you require assistance with this process, please call us during business hours on 8470-8578 or send an email to: darebinlovesbikes@darebin.vic.gov.au
